Hereford Burger, Bacon & Ultimate Burger Sauce
Serves 4 people - Ready in 30 minutes
Make the ultimate burger at your barbecue, complete with bacon and a homemade tangy burger sauce
Ingredients

4 Co-op Irresistible Hereford beef burgers

2 tbsp Co-op Fairtrade light brown soft sugar

1 tbsp apple sauce

4 rashers Co-op Irresistible smoked streaky bacon

4 Co-op Irresistible brioche buns

4 tbsp Co-op reduced fat mayonnaise

2 tbsp ketchup
-
2 gherkins, finely chopped
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tomato, sliced

4 Co-op lighter mature Cheddar cheese slices

Iceberg lettuce, to serve
Directions

Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas 6

Grill the burgers according to the pack instructions, then cover with foil and leave to rest for 5 mins

Meanwhile, mix the sugar and apple sauce

Toss the bacon in the mixture and bake for 15-18 mins, until crisp

Halve, then lightly toast the buns

Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, gherkins, and mustard

Spread on the cut sides of the buns, then fill each with a few slices of tomato, a burger, 1 cheese slice, 1 bacon rasher and some iceberg lettuce to serve
