Covid-19 mobile testing site opened in Bourton on the Water

Gloucestershire County Council has announced that a Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) for Covid-19 will be located at the old Countrywide Farmers Store on Station Road in Bourton-on-the-Water.
The MTU will operate at the site, which is owned by Co-op Midcounties, from Thursday 25th June to Wednesday 1st July and will allow hundreds more tests to take place in the County during the period it is operating.
The announcement is part of a planned trialling of different sites for the MTU across the county. The site will support the regional testing centre which opened at Hempstead Meadow in Gloucester in June, offering around 700 tests a day.
It is important to stress that this is not in response to an increase in concern in the area, its simply using available testing capacity and trying out possible locations and fine tuning the way everything works.
Co-op Midcounties Chief Executive, Phil Ponsonby said: “Allowing the MTU to be located on our site was the least we could do in helping to minimise the spread of the infection and keep people in the local community safe at this time. We’d also like to thank Gowling WLG for their helping in finalising the agreement to get the MTU up and running as quickly as possible.”
