Brand New Your Co-op Store Opens After Relocation

A brand-new Your Co-op Food store has opened its doors this week (Thursday 24^th August) in Penkridge.

The store and its Post Office branch have relocated from Market Street onto Stone Cross to help bring a more convenient location to those members and customers it serves in the local community.

It will offer essential grocery items, from fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and flowers to a range of wines, spirits and chilled bears. It will also be home to a Costa Coffee machine, an ATM, National Lottery and Paypoint terminals, an in-store bakery, as well as offering a hot food-to-go range.

Your Co-op is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, which is one of the largest independent UK co-operatives and is fully owned by its members. Customers at the new store will have the option of becoming a member of the Society, giving them access to exclusive deals as well as special offers from across the Your Co-op group of businesses.

To celebrate the opening and ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, the Your Co-op Penkridge store will also be offering members 20% off all wine when buying four bottles in one transaction.

Following a £545,000 investment from its owners, The Midcounties Co-operative, the store, which is in a listed building, has also been refurbished and fitted with energy efficient refrigerators and LED lighting to help reduce its environmental impact.

In addition to all Co-op branded packaging being recyclable, the store will also offer a soft plastic recycle unit allowing shoppers to recycle soft plastics such as crisp packets and pet food pouches, which can’t usually be placed in kerbside recycling bins. Allocated car parking will be available for customer use at the rear of the store.

As part of the store’s commitment to supporting the local community, it will also include a food bank collection point, allowing customers to drop off a range of essential items needed by families in the local area.

Members also have a say in how the Society is run, including the work it does to support local communities in partnership with local volunteers and community groups, all of which can be easily accessed via the Your Co-op Membership app.

The stores’ opening hours will be 7am to 10pm every day throughout the week.
