Paralympic athlete Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson will be the star attraction at the Fairer Living Festival, a unique family festival organised by The Midcounties Co-operative to bring together like-minded social enterprises and individuals who are passionate about building a fairer, more sustainable, and ethical future.
Located at Walsall Football Club on the 11th of May from 10 am – 3 pm, Tanni will be speaking, taking part in a question-and-answer session and meeting people at the festival. The free event will also include a host of fun family activities and entertainment including live music from local artists, cooking demonstrations, circus entertainment, face painting, swap shops and crafting workshops.
The Society’s Annual General Meeting will also take place for Members at the festival from 10 am – 12 pm, discussing the annual performance, showcasing the support for local communities throughout the year, revealing future growth plans and an opportunity for Members to vote on key Society matters.
The festival also offers the chance to meet local community groups and charities such as Alz Café, Black Country Women’s Aid, Garden Organics and Bloxwich Community Partnership to learn more about what they do, get career advice and support in overcoming barriers to employment from experts including Steps to Work, Walsall College, Job Centre Plus and The Fairer Futures Programme.
Phil Ponsonby, Chief Executive Officer at The Midcounties Co-operative, said: “This year’s Fairer Living Festival will be filled with things for our members, customers, and the local community to see, discover and do for free, including meeting Paralympic athlete Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson. From Members voting in our AGM to families enjoying a day out packed with fun activities, we look forward to bringing together everyone in the local community for a truly memorable day."
