Following the Manchester based Co-operative Group’s confirmation in the news yesterday that all of their member data was impacted by a recent cyber-attack, I want to take this opportunity to provide further reassurance and clarity regarding your data and our systems.
As I mentioned in my letter dated 8th June, no systems operated by The Midcounties Co-operative were affected by this incident, and I want to reaffirm that none of your personal data has been accessed or compromised. The breach was limited solely to systems operated by The Co-operative Group, which is a separate organisation to us, and did not involve any of our internal systems or member records.
While The Co-operative Group’s distribution network, which supplies our food stores, experienced disruption, their systems are now fully operational. Thanks to the efforts of our colleagues, our stores have made strong progress in returning to normal, and your favourite products are once again available.
